Ardmore

Ardmore Road began with the contrast between an established Ponsonby villa and a more elemental contemporary interior. The original house was retained toward the street, while the new work gradually becomes quieter and more reduced. Microcement walls create a continuous backdrop, allowing light and shadow to move across the rooms without interruption. Natural stone brings a more tactile presence - cool underfoot, varied in tone, and intended to become richer rather than more perfect with age. The materials were chosen not as finishes in isolation, but for how they make the house feel: calm, grounded and closely connected to the garden beyond. What remains familiar is allowed to remain so. What is new is reduced to what matters.
